Heritage Flower Farm 2010 Schedule

  APRIL
14 - Wednesday. OPENING DAY  We grow our plants outside so they are used to the cold and ready to be planted whatever the weather - snow, sleet or sun.

  MAY
1 - Saturday. 10:30. Make a spring wreath for Mom (or anybody you want) $15 - reservations required

15 - Saturday. Rhubarb Revelry.  All day.  So many have admired our rhubarb that we cultivated extra & grew more of the ornamental ones too.  Special pricing today only - while supplies last.  Plus come try some rhubarb treats. 

22 - Saturday 10:30. Make a 3' tall rustic sapling tuteur $10 - reservations required.  A "tuteur", from the French "tutor" or "trainer", is a vertical structure used to train young plants, vines, or simply a garden accent.

19-23 Special on Baptisia australis False indigo, the Perennial Plant Assn. plant of the year.   While supplies last.


JUNE
12 - Saturday 2:30  Bearded irises. Learn what, when, how & why of planting, caring for & multiplying Bearded irises. Take home an Anne's iris - FREE

16 - Wednesday 6:30 PM  Bearded irises Repeat FREE.

26- Saturday 2:30. Make a hypertufa pot. $22 - reservations required. You will need to leave it here to cure & come back & pick it up.

10 - Saturday 2:30 Clematis, Queen of the Vines.  Learn what, when, how & why of planting, caring for & pruning Clematis vines. FREE

14 - Wednesday 6:30 PM Repeat Clematis, Queen of the Vines. FREE

24 - Saturday 2:30. Gardening- It's for the Birds.  Learn what birds want & where to locate plants to attract & keep birds in your yard. FREE

  AUGUST
7 - Saturday 2:30 Narrated plant walk for Thomas Nuttall (1786-1859) Day.  Nuttall collected more plants in what is now the US than any other person - EVER.  The 1st professional plant hunter in Wisconsin, August 7th marks the 200th anniversary (more or less - no one knows the exact day for sure) of his arrival at Mackinac Island.  FREE.  Specials on plants Nuttall collected.

21 - Saturday 2:30 Make cement stepping stone with Bergenia leaf imprints. $15 Reservations required. You will need to leave it here to cure & come back & pick it up.

  SEPTEMBER
8 - Wednesday 6:30 PM Lily propagation.  Learn how to make more lilies from bulb scales, off sets, bulbils & seeds. Take home bulb scales & bulbils to try. $5 Reservations required.

11 - Saturday 2:30 Lily propagation Repeat. $5 Reservations required

30 - Thursday - 5PM-8PM Harvest in the Heartland Preview Party

OCTOBER
1 - 3 Friday -Sunday   Harvest in the Heartland.  Celebrate the Harvest with a cornucopia of Bittersweet, gourds & heirloom pumpkins; gathered handmade primitives & folk art, original treasures & unique harvest & Halloween decorations to warm your home.
